In January 2020, Ted and Beth Bunton purchased Troy Chemical, recognizing an opportunity to address an underserved segment of the Surface Finishing Industry. Ted, the son of an original investor, assumed leadership and has been guiding the company through a new phase of expansion and strategic direction. Unlike larger competitors who were not committing resources to certain customer expenditure levels, Troy Chemical has always positioned itself as the ‘everyman’ vendor. The company focuses on Pretreatment Chemicals, Metalworking Fluids, and Wastewater Solutions, bringing all these applications under our responsibility so customers can focus on what they do best. Our strength has always been, and will continue to be, our customer-centric approach and ability to provide quick turnarounds. We remain confident in our direction and vision for the future.
In the early 1990s, Lee Imhof, son of David and Joyce, took over the leadership of the company. He focused on the General Industrial, Pretreatment, and Toll Blending markets, introducing new strategies and advancements such as exporting to different countries and embracing digital technologies.
The journey of Troy Chemical Industries began in 1971 when A. David Imhof and his wife, Joyce, founded the company. Alongside five additional investors, they entered the Industrial Chemical market. The diverse expertise of these individuals contributed to the rapid growth and success of the company. To support its expanding operations, a new manufacturing plant was built in 1976, enabling the production of their own products and allowing for diversification into different industries and markets. Further expansion took place in 1986 to enhance manufacturing capabilities and inventory space.
