Honoring a Legacy, Advancing a Cause: Troy Chemical Supports the Melvin McCall “Strokes Fore Progress” Memorial Golf Tournament

At Troy Chemical, stewardship isn’t just a value we talk about—it’s something we live. This commitment comes to life in powerful ways through the passions and initiatives of our team members. One of the most inspiring examples is the annual Melvin McCall “Strokes Fore Progress” Memorial Golf Tournament, founded and led by our Vice President of Sales, Shawn McCall.

Shawn created the tournament in honor of his father, Melvin McCall, who passed away from brain cancer more than 25 years ago. What began as a personal tribute has grown into a meaningful mission: supporting research, care, and hope for individuals and families affected by brain cancer.

Supporting the World’s Leading Brain Tumor Center

The event proudly supports the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University—recognized globally as the foremost institution dedicated to the treatment and cure of brain and spinal cord tumors. The center is guided by an exceptional leadership team. Their groundbreaking work is shaping the future of brain tumor treatment, and we are honored to contribute to that mission.

A Record-Breaking Year of Impact

Since its inception, the tournament has held one simple goal:
to play even a small part in the bigger picture—finding a cure for malignant brain tumors.

We’re proud to share that the 2025 outing raised more funds than any year prior. This achievement allowed Shawn and the organizing team to present a record-breaking donation of $60,000 to Duke University’s Brain Tumor Center. Every dollar raised represents hope, progress, and the possibility of a different future for patients and families facing this devastating disease.

Stewardship in Action

At Troy Chemical, we believe that our responsibility stretches beyond our business. We strive to be stewards of the communities in which we live and work—supporting causes that matter, driven by people who inspire us.

Shawn’s dedication to honoring his father’s legacy, year after year, is a powerful reflection of that value. We are proud to stand behind him and behind the mission of Strokes Fore Progress as together we support lifesaving research and care.
